Support Programmes issued by German cultural intermediary organizations and non-profit foundations that address themselves to trainees and young vocational entrants from abroad are usually aimed at enhancing intercultural competences as well as encouraging sociopolitical engagement of young people in their home countries. Specific support of vocational training is not part of these programmes.
The Theodor-Heuss-College of the Robert Bosch Foundation was named after the first president of the Federal Republic of Germany, Theodor Heuss, and serves to encourage young people from Central and Southeastern Europe and Central Asia to play an active social and political role and help develop democratic structures. Students at the Theodor-Heuss-Kolleg are supported for one year. They attend international summer seminars to acquire practical skills and knowledge and develop project ideas. The programme's operating organization is MitOst e.V.
