Perhaps you are looking for a German lector or consultant who could assist you in building up a language teaching centre or to advise and lend a practical hand with the teaching of German as a foreign language (Deutsch als Fremdsprache - DaF)? Or maybe you are a German studying German philology, and you are interested in a teaching position abroad?

Deutsche Kultur International has compiled a list of organisations which could be of assistance to you. These organisations do not only focus on 'exporting' German: in addition to language work, the sharing of experience is an important part of the work of German experts abroad.

The Central Office for Schools Abroad (Zentralstelle für das Auslandsschulwesen, ZfA) oversees and fosters more than 500 schools worldwide - beneath 117 German schools abroad - employing about 1900 teachers and expert advisors. It is responsible for the educational, personnel and financial support of the academic work abroad and informs at its internet pages about vacencies of the ZfA as well as the local schools (all websites of the ZfA only available in German).

The advancement of the German language abroad is all part of the function of the German Academic Exchange Service (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst, DAAD). Therefore about 440 DAAD-instructors are sent out at universities in 102 countries. Assistant teachers of German as a foreign language (DaF) can apply for an annual scholarship. Besides the DAAD places and advances lectureships of professors at universities abroad for maintenance the academic connections with foreign countries (all related websites of the DAAD in German).
