The 29th Biennale São Paulo is curated byMoacir dos Anjos und Agnaldo Farias with Kuratoren verschiedener Herkunft Fernando Alvim, Rina Carvajal, Yuko Hasegawa, Sarat Maharaj, Chus Martinez . the title chosen for the 29th Bienal de São Paulo “There is always a cup of sea to sail in” - a quote borrowed from the Brazilian poet Jorge de Lima’s major work Invenção de Orfeu (1952) – singularly epitomizes what the forthcoming Bienal de São Paulo edition seeks to achieve: to assert that the utopian dimension of art is contained within itself, not without it or beyond it
The foreign cultural policy of the Federal Republic attaches major importance to art exhibitions, for no other medium is better suited to conveying the depth and richness of a nation's cultural activities. The term visual art is understood here in its broadest sense and the German government supports a whole range of activities including installations, video art, photography, architecture and design. As in other areas of foreign cultural policy, arrangements are predominantly reciprocal. Just as support is available for German artists and art exhibitions to travel abroad, so, too, there are schemes for foreign artists and art exhibitions to come to Germany.
