Information for Student Groups

International relations thrive on personal contact. Therefore support for study trips by student groups is designed to deepen contacts between those in higher education in Germany and abroad, and to promote collaboration by encouraging subject-oriented visits abroad.

Student Partnership Schemes

These programmes have been set up to foster contacts on an academic, institutional and personal level between higher education establishments in Germany and abroad. Support is available for visits by groups of students from abroad organised by scientists in German higher education. Applications for visits by guests from abroad can only be made by staff in German colleges and universities. Successful applicants will receive a contribution towards theirvisitors' accommodation and subsistence costs during their stay in Germany. Applications are processed by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

Study Trips to Germany led by Academics

facilitate subject-oriented contacts and a chance to learn more about Germany. Visits, sightseeing and informative dialogue provide an insight into life in Germany today.

Additional data is available from the DAAD offices abroad or the German Missions abroad.

Travel to Europe

Since 2007, the Robert Bosch Stiftung conducts the project Travel to Europe in collaboration with the Balkan Trust for Democracy and in coordination with various civil society organizations from Southeastern European countries. The programme’s target group comprises the best students from Albania, Bosnia and Hercegovina, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, and Serbia. In collaboration with the German Foreign Office, they will receive a free Schengen Visa for a four-week trip though the countries of the European Union. Beyond that, they will receive health insurance, Interrail train tickets, and a daily cash allowance. The programme's aim is to give outstanding students the opportunity to gain international experience, to expand their understanding for European structures, and to get to know each other.

Study Visits

Support is available for subject-oriented study visits in Germany or by German student groups abroad organised by the host institution. Applications in both cases may only be submitted by the staff of a German higher education institution and are processed by the DAAD (website in German).

Higher Education Partnership Schemes

These partnership schemes are based on a formal agreement between two higher education institutions and are designed to promote exchanges and collaboration in the long term. These formal agreements lay down conditions in detail, such as the relevant financial arrangements. Further information is available from the DAAD.

Scholarships and Funding for Qualified and Executive Personnel from Developing Countries
