Support for foreign Libraries
Kompetenznetzwerk für Bibliotheken (KNB)
The expertise-network for libraries at the office of the German umbrella organisation for libraries (Deutscher Bibliotheksverband e.V., dbv) bundles competences of institutions that up to now had cross-"Länder" tasks.
It's aims are:
- supply of information for planning and decision making on a national level,
- to encourage innovation and development in libraries,
- to support the role of libraries and their relations on an international level.

Assistance with Library Holdings
The Goethe Institute is able to make German literature available for selected schools and colleges to build up their libraries. As regards contents, the spectrum ranges from children's and young people's literature to specialist material for Germanists and includes only titles currently available in the German book trade. This project includes the Themenpakete run by Goethe-Institute.

Support of Libraries in Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe and the GUS
The library initiative People and Books aimed to make a contribution to the integration of Europe equipping around 30 exclusive libraries in 22 countries of Central and Eastern Europe with German books.

For over ten years the Goethe Institute has been developing a comprehensive information network in numerous countries of the world – in close collaboration with partners and experts in the host countries.
Books Exhibitions
The Goethe Institute offers lendable exhibitions conceiving from the Goethe Institutes Bordeaux and Nancy for public libraries in France than informs about German literature and German-speaking books for children and youth.
The exhibitions can be borrowed from municipal and school libraries, documentation centres, book fares, and institutions interesting in German literature. (Website in German and French)
