Cultural Circle of German Business and Industry within the Federation of German Industry (registered association)
Purpose/Activities
This 'Cultural Circle' is a public-benefit registered association, founded in Cologne in 1951, with now about 450 members from all sectors of business and industry. Thus the Cultural Circle is the only common forum of German business and industry that promotes art and culture and links business and industrial corporations on the one hand with cultural and political endeavours on the other. As a priority, the association sponsors young artists-sculptors and painters, musicians, writers and architects. Every year four expert juries choose the artists to receive grants and decide on which 'content' to concentrate on that year. Apart from the direct funding of cultural projects, the Cultural Circle also initiates cultural policies to improve cultural framework conditions in Germany.
