Bund-Länder-Committee for School Education Abroad (BLASchA)

Purpose/Activities:

The Bund-Länder-Committee for School Education Abroad (BLASchA) is authorised with the coordination of the KMK and the Federal Foreign Office in the field of schools abroad, European schools and promotion of German lessons abroad. It discusses basic questions concerning German schools as well as individual pedagogic, school management and didactic problems and also drafts statements on German school systems abroad. In addition, the committee is concerned with the needs and interests of the teachers at German schools abroad, especially those who were given special leave by the school administration of their respective federal states to teach abroad. It works at the unification of regulations governing the foreign employment of teachers from all the different federal states, recognition of German schools abroad, their right to issue German school leaving certificates, regulation of and other questions regarding school examinations if these give school leavers the right to further education in Germany.
