United States of America:
The 'Krupp Foundation Internship Program for Stanford Students in Germany' aims to give Stanford graduates the chance of a further study period in Germany and of internships in German business and industry, as well as other institutions. The programme is organised jointly by Stanford University and the Stanford Center in Berlin, Germany.
People's Republic of China:
The 'China-Studienprogramm' is open to students with top marks in any subject, except those who have Chinese as their main subject.
Twenty applicants are admitted every year to an intensive Chinese language course which is run every August at Trier University. Every November, ten scholarships are granted for a one-year study period in China, followed in March by a second intensive course in Trier, and subsequent individual teaching at the students' 'home universities'. Departure for China at the be-ginning of the following September. The curriculum concentrates on lan-guage courses in the first semester, and on subject studies in the second. Exceptions are possible for students who have already acquired advanced language skills. After the second term, the programme is continued with an internship in a German-Chinese joint-venture company. The remaining weeks are reserved for travels in China. The Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes (Study Trust of the German People) manages the implementation of this programme.
