Purpose/Activities

 

The foundation West-Eastern Meeting supports personal contacts of people from Germany and the countries of Eastern Europe, the Baltic States and Middle Asia. It aims to encourage cross-cultural learning, to intensify east-west communication and competence and to strengthen the engagement for a civil society. Its grants are addressed to schools and youth groups, civil associations, unsalaried culture companies, local institutions, congregations as well as registered societies and non-governmental organisations (NGO) allowing contacts and human cooperation.

 

The following programmes are promoted by the foundation:

primary meetings,

thematically and project oriented meetings,

engagement of citizens and formation of networks,

extra projects as cooperation scheme,

sympathy programme for partner land,

visitor’s school year in Eastern Europe and Central Asia,

voluntary service of west-eastern partnerships.

Furthermore the foundation initiates youth festivals as well as conferences about student exchange and town twinning.

 

Once a year the foundation West-Eastern Meeting awards a prize of 10,000 Euro for extra outstanding single or group activities.
