Purpose/Activities

The Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS) has evolved from the Society for Christian Democratic Educational Work that was established in 1955 and has been bearing the name of the first Federal Chancellor since 1964. As a political foundation it operates in two education centres and 16 education institutes nationwide. Around the world, its offices abroad look after more than 200 projects in more than 120 countries.

Its main focus occupies the fields

Globalisation: the globalisation poses a challenge at lifestyle and culture for the industrial countries as well as for the emerging markets and the developing countries.

Islam und democracy: boundaries and possibilities of the dialogue.

Climate change: the biggest challenge of the humankind.

Price "social market economy": "Social market economy not confirms in codes but in cerebration and action of the people." (Richard von Weizsäcker).

Aims and objectives of the CDU: materials for the discussion about the programme.

Security in the Middle East: strengthening of the Israeli-Palestinian peace process.

Contemporary history: "Man muss das Gestern kennen, man muss auch an das Gestern denken, wenn man das Morgen gut und dauerhaft gestalten will." (Konrad Adenauer).
