Purpose/Activities

The Hans Böckler Foundation is an agency of the DGB, the German Federation of Trades Unions, with special responsibility for questions of labour codetermination, research and education. The codetermination department organises working groups, corporate and supervisory board-member seminars, workshops and specialised conferences. It publishes newsletters, information circulars, instructions for action and guidelines.

Another area of activity is the promotion of labour research. The foundation organises research projects that deal with current social developments and problems of labour and industry.

The foundation gives grants to workers and A-level graduates of evening classes who go on to study and complete doctoral theses at university.
