German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB)

Purpose/Activities

 

The German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) is the independent umbrella organisation of sports associations in Germany. The DOSB came into existence as follow-up organisation of the German Olympic Sports Association and the National Olympic Committee of Germany which merged on May, 20. 2006.

 

DOSB cooperates with IOC, EOC, national olympic committees, sports federations and ministries of sports around the world as well as with international organisations. DOSB is involved in international and bilateral bodies, e.g.

the European Sports Conference (ESC)

European Non-Governmental Sports Organisations (ENGSO)

the Intergovernmental Committee for Physical Education and Sport (CIGEPS)

German UNESCO Commission.

DOSB represents the interests of the German sports world at the European community in Brussel.
