Purpose/ Activities

The German Historical Institute Moscow (DHI Moscow) is an independent research institute and a project of German Foundation Institutes of Humanities Abroad (DGIA). It carries out research on Russian history and represents and communicates German history and historiography in Russia. Its special aim is to promote cooperation between German and Russian historians. The DHI Moscow offers different research grants, it focus mainly on the German-Russian history and its international context from the 18th to the 20th century.

The library comprises 20,000 books about German und Russian history from modern times to present times. From 2006 about 100 trade journals from Germany, Russia, Western Europe and the USA will be subscribed.
