Purpose/Activities

 

Since its foundation in 1949, the Deutsche Auslandsgesellschaft e.V. Lübeck (German Foreign Society, registered charity) has been engaged in activities aimed at improving and maintaining Germany's relations with foreign countries and at international understanding.

Priorities are cultural exchanges with northern and north-eastern Europe: Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland (region on the Baltic Sea only), Russia (region of Kaliningrad only) and Sweden.

The Society also runs a French-German working group.

 

The Society funds

further training courses for teachers of German from the countries listed above (priority)

study trips for foreign teachers to Germany

events for foreign translators of German literature

school and university student exchanges (no comprehensive funding)

Rundbrief (Newsletter with topical information for teachers of German, annual)
