Purpose/Activities

Founded in Cologne in 1951, the Cultural Committee is a not-for-profit organisation, financed solely by membership fees and donations. It has about 400 members consisting of corporations and entrepreneurs from all sectors of business and industry. the Cultural Committee is the only supraregional institution of German business that promotes art and culture. It facilitates the dialogue between the arts and economy and links corporations on the one hand with cultural and political endeavours on the other. As a priority, the association sponsors young artists in the fields of fine arts, music, literature and architecture. Apart from the direct funding of cultural projects, the Cultural Committee also initiates cultural policies to improve cultural framework conditions in Germany and advices their members on issues of cultural sponsorship.
