Purpose/ Activities

 

The Bauhaus Archive collects documents, publications and other material relating to the activitiy and cultural/artistic contribution of the Bauhaus School (1919-1933), the 19th-century developments leading up to its conception and establishment and its influence up until the present day. The resulting analyses and critiques are published. The Bauhaus Archive runs a museum, a document centre and library. It holds special exhibitions and lectures and offers museum tours.

 

Internationally relevant activities:

Through its research work, the Archive entertains multiple relations with foreign institutions, in particular in the United States (e.g. Busch Reisinger Museum at Harvard University, Cambridge MA; Chicago Institute of Design at the Illinois Institute of Technology), but also in Switzerland, Israel and Japan.
