Nordicom

Purpose/Activities

 

Nordicom is a knowledge centre for the area of media and communication research, a cooperation between the five countries of the Nordic region - Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. It operates under the auspices of the Nordic Council of Ministers and aims to develop media studies and to help that research results are made visible in the treatment of media issues at different levels in both the public and private sector.

 

The activities at Nordicom are characterised by three main working areas:

media and communication research findings in the Nordic countries

trends and developments in the media sectors in the Nordic countries

research on children, youth and the media worldwide

Nordicom's activities are based on broad and extensive network of contacts and collaboration with members of the research community and media companies as well as politicians, regulators, teachers, librarians, and so forth, around the world.
