Europe Culture Management in EAST (ECUMEST)

Purpose/Activities

The association aims to respond to the need of encouraging creativity and creative artists, managerial autonomy, the responsibility in designing and implementing cultural policies and in mediating the artistic and cultural production; it also aims to promote a continuous reflection on the alternatives available and the decisions taken by the politicians in the cultural field, as well as a large diffusion of European experience and values in the cultural arena.

The long-term objective of the ECUMEST Association is to set-up a regional centre (in Eastern Europe) for analysis and expertise in the field of cultural policy and to initiate pilot programmes targeting young artists throughout the region, adapted to their needs of dialogue and mobility at European level.

The Ecumest Association is currently undertaking a series of activities in four main areas of intervention, corresponding to its objectives and its expertise:

cultural policies, i.e the support of the process of participative policy-making (between the legislative, executive and cultural sectors) in view of designing and implementing effective cultural policies - at local, regional or national level - in the countries of South-Eastern Europe,

professional development, i.e. activities of specialised training, consultancy and competence evaluation, addressing in particular the fields of cultural management and cultural policy,

promoting the mobility of young artists and cultural managers,

support to the cultural press.
