Approval and taking into account of course achievements, certificates, final degrees and study terms, achieved or taken outside Germany.

The Central Office for Foreign Education (ZAB) is a department of the secretariat of the Permanent Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs of the Länder (KMK) in the Federal Republic of Germany. Acting on request of certain federal offices or agencies inside and outside Germany the Central Office for Foreign Education (ZAB) is authorized to give information as in particular to the following issues:

1. taking into account study terms abroad
2. assessment of course achievements and intermediate examination results from foreign universities
3. assessment of foreign diplomas/certificates for the admittance to do a promotion/achieve a PhD degree
4. approval of academic degrees and titles
5. valuation of foreign universities' character in order to take into account foreign professors' terms of service already completed at their home universities
6. assessment of foreign university diplomas/certificates with regard to an engagement as an university's foreign language assistant/lector.
7. assessment of certificates of preparatory qualification of scholarship/grants' applicants.
