GRUNDTVIG is the sectoral programme in the field of adult education. Being part of the EU-education programme for Lifelong Learning GRUNDTVIG addresses itself to all actors in the field of adult education (institutions of public administration, schools, unincorporated associations, registered societies, lecturers in the field of adult education).
GRUNDTVIG is particularly directed to meet the challenges of adult education emerging from an ageing European population. Besides adults and older people willing to extend their knowledge and competences further adults lacking a basic qualification are the main target group of the programme.
The following activities are in line with the programme's objectives eligible for funding:
Preparatory Visits should enable any organisation wishing to establish a GRUNDTVIG Learning Partnership, Senior Volunteering Project, Multilateral Cooperation Project, Network or Accompanying measures project to get to know suitable partner institutions participating in the programme,
Visits and Exchanges for Adult Education Staff provide present or future staff working in the field of adult education, or persons who are engaged in the in-service training of such staff, the opportunity to undertake a work-related study visit to a European partner institution participating in the programme,
Assistantships enable present or future staff involved in adult education - whether formal, nonformal or informal - to spend a period of 12-45 weeks as a GRUNDTVIG Assistant at an adult education organisation in another European country participating in the programme,
In-service Staff Training for Adult Education Staff enables persons working in the field of adult learning or who are engaged in the in-service training of such persons, to undertake a training course in a European country other than that in which they normally live or work,
Workshops are addressed to adult learners willing to broaden their learning experiences in a multinational European learning context, the learning events and seminars taking place in European other than their home country,
Learning Partnerships bring together trainers and learners from at least three participating countries to work on one or more topics of common interest to the co-operating organisations,
Senior Volunteering Projects are aimed at enabling senior citizens willing to pass on their learning and working experience to volunteer in another European country for any kind of non-profit activity, as a form of informal (and mutual) learning activity (learning/sharing knowledge),
Multilateral projects bring together institutions/organisations from different participating countries working together, pooling knowledge and experience, in order to achieve concrete and innovative results/products with indisputable European value, amongst others in the field of adult education,
Multilateral Networksare directed to strengthen the link between the various 'actors' involved in adult education in the broadest sense, to improve the quality, European dimension and visibility of activities or issues of common interest in the field of adult learning,
The programmes' operational objects are:
support of European cooperation in the field of lifelong learning in particular between institutions of adult education;
