The European study visits' programme CEDEFOP is a key action of the EU transversal programme and thus part of the Lifelong Learning Programme (2007-13). Since 2008 CEDEFOP (European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training) is coordinating the study visits' programme on behalf of the European Comission cooperating with partner institutions of the participating countries and the National Agencies.
Advancing the exchange of experiences between decision makers, instructors and persons responsible in the field of vocational training the programme activates discussions on issues of common European interest. Professionals' meetings and visitations in institutions of vocational education and training "on site" are aimed at enhancing the mutual knowledge about the national educational and vocational systems. A study visit is a short stay of three to five days in a host country for a group of 10 to 15 European education and vocational training specialists and decision-makers. They are stakeholders who want to examine a particular aspect of lifelong learning in another participating country.
