Specialists and Managers from abroad

The following programmes and projects address themselves to specialists and managers from Western, Eastern and Central Europe, including the Russian Federation, the USA, Japan, China and India. A further programme priority is on developing countries. They want to encourage dialogue and seek to organise learning processes. The aim is to analyse social, economic and political problems and to look for common solutions. In doing so, the participants become acquainted with Germany's cultural, economic and social structures. The foremost intention is a lasting improvement of living conditions in these countries.

Recognition of Educational Certificates from Abroad

The portal backs up the new Recognition Act passed by the Federal Government by bundling all information relating to vocational recognition and by guiding persons with foreign vocational qualifications to the body responsible for their own particular case.

Hertie-Scholarship Programme at the Studienkolleg Berlin

The Hertie-Scholarship Programme at the Studienkolleg Berlin is a one-year supplementary educational programme that addresses itself to highly gifted students from all over Europe independent of their actual subject of studies. The programme supports prospective young European leaders by imparting knowledge on European politics, history and culture as well as in natural sciences and the humanities. In addition to the completion of their basic study courses applicants have to be registered at a university in Berlin or the German Federal State of Brandenburg for the duration of the educational programme.

Exchange Program for Young French and German Journalists

The Exchange Program for young French and German Journalists addresses itself to young journalists in their vocational training as well as vocational entrants of the journalist profession. Each ten young German and French journalists are eligible to do a two- to three-week journalistic practical training at a news' media editorial staff (TV, Radio, Print Media) in their neighbour's country. Based on these journalistic experiences participants will be able to deal with specific German-French topics by means of a differentiated coverage.

FranceMobil Program

In 2002, the Robert Bosch-Foundation in cooperation with the French Embassy in Berlin launched the 'FranceMobil' Programme. Using vans supplied by Renault Deutschland AG, twelve French graduates visit kindergartens, primary schools, secondary schools, vocational schools, and high schools across Germany. Their mission is to raise the interest of students, teachers, and parents in the French language and culture, to convey an attractive image of modern France, and help students to make an informed choice when deciding which foreign language to learn.

InWent - Programmes for Specialists and Executives

With its programmes for Central, Eastern and Southeast Europe InWEnt is helping to support political, economic and social transition processes in the region.

Key topics include support for economic reform processes, the promotion of foreign trading relations, strengthening democracy and the rule of law, and environmental protection and conservation of natural resources.

The Central European MBA at the ESCP Europe Berlin is a two-year study course in economic science that addresses itself to future managers from Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Estonia. In line with the two-year MBA-curriculum the Hertie-Foundation awards partial scholarships for the final five-month intensive study course at the ESCP in Berlin. Qualified for application are postgraduates registered in the CeMBA course of studies at one of the following schools of economics: Poznan, Bratislava, Prague, Budapest or Tartu. German postgraduates are also qualified for application provided they register themselves at one of the schools of economics above mentioned.

German Chancellor Fellowship for Prospective Leaders

The Alexander von Humboldt-Foundation annually awards up to ten German Chancellor Fellowships for Prospective Leaders from the USA, the Russian Federation and the People's Republic of China to enable the realisation of a project of your own design in cooperation with a German host you have selected.

Applicants should have shown outstanding potential for future leadership in their previous career. The program addresses applicants from all professions and fields of study giving preference to the humanities, law, social and economic sciences, and also to the arts.

Cultural Managers from Middle and Eastern Europe

Cultural Managers from Central and Eastern Europe is a scholarship programme in the field of cultural management. Each year the Robert Bosch Foundation invites twelve young university graduates from Central and Eastern Europe to take a one-year study visit in a German cultural institution. The German cultural institutions participating in the programme already hold close cultural ties to Central and Eastern Europe or want to establish such ties. The focus of the scholarship holders’ work is on assistance in the organisation and management of cultural events as well as the dissemination of cultural trends taking place in their home countries.

Balkan Fellowship for Journalistic Excellence

In cooperation with DIE ERSTE österreichische Spar-Casse Privatstiftung, Vienna, and  Balkan Investigative Reporting Network (BIRN), Sarajevo, the Robert Bosch Foundation annually awards the Balkan Fellowship for Journalistic Excellence for journalistic projects to journalists from Southeast Europe. Among the application proposals each year ten projects are chosen eligible for funding. The fellowship comprises the support of journalistic field research in countries of the European Union and its Southeast European neighbouring countries. During their journalistic research fellows will be supported by experienced journalists and receive a training in journalistic competences.

Advanced Training for Economy Journalists

The Economic and Political Reporting from Southeast Europe Programme organised by the Robert-Bosch Foundation particularly addresses itself to journalists of economics, being citizens of Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Kosovo, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia or Slovenia. The Thomson Reuters Foundation, London, acts as a programme's tutor. During the one-year scholarship period it organises two 14-day long tutorials to impart expert knowledge on issues of economic and financial policy to the scholarship holders as well as journalistic competences. Applicants must be able to speak English and be full-time professional journalists who have been working for at least two years with a recognized publication, website, radio, or television station. Applicants must have a portfolio that includes experiences in economic journalism or must otherwise demonstrate a strong interest in economic and political issues.

Media - Mediators between Nations

In cooperation with the Berliner Journalisten-Schule, the Robert Bosch Foundation organizes a three-month fellowship program for young Central and Eastern European journalists up to the age of 35. The program Media - Mediators between Nations includes a one-month stay in spring at the Berliner Journalisten-Schule to acquire knowledge about Germany, bilateral relations and the European Union, followed by a two-month internship in the editorial department of a renowned publisher, radio or television station, depending on the fellow's interests and qualifications. The journalists familiarize themselves with the working methods of their German colleagues and produce reports for their respective host and home editorial departments. Meetings and interviews with representatives from politics and social affairs are also scheduled during their stay in the German capital.

Intensifying German-Turkish Relations: Programme for Journalists

The programme Intensifying German-Turkish Relations: Programme for Journalists of the Robert-Bosch Foundation addresses itself to German and Turkish journalists. The groups selected in the application process participate in a three-part program consisting of two weekend forums in their home countries and a one-week journey through Germany and Turkey respectively. At all three events, the participating journalists meet important representatives from politics, business, society and the media. The aim of the program is to promote unprejudiced reporting on the partner country. All three projects are organized by KulturForum Türkei-Deutschland in Cologne.

Carl Friedrich Goerdeler-Kolleg Fellowship Program for Young Executives from Central Europe

The Carl Friedrich Goerdeler-Kolleg is an international intensive professional development program for young executives from the public sector (public administration, public companies, non-profit organizations, etc.) from Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania, and Slovakia.

Rochus und Beatrice-Mummert Foundation Scholarship Programme

The Rochus and Beatrice Mummert Foundation Scholarship Programme supports future executives from Central and Southeastern Europe with scholarships for studies in economics or engineering at the Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule Aachen or Cologne University. Scholarship holders also benefit from a comprehensive support program, including internships in German companies, personal counseling by tutors and mentors, as well as seminars and colloquia.

Doctoral Programme for young Turkish Executives

A two- to three-year doctoral program at the Max Weber College at the Erfurt University prepares five young Turkish executives for their future careers. The college specializes in research in the fields of violence and human rights, social change, cultural interaction, and communication about values.

Specialists and Managers from Developing Countries

Sustainable Business

The further development and practical realisation of sustainable business is still a major challenge to industrialised nations, developing countries and newly industrialising economies (NIEs) alike. To meet this challenge, entrepreneurial reflections and action are needed.

The InWent promotes the international dialogue and an exchange of experience on sustainability in business as well as the development and use of concrete instruments for sustainable business by strengthening the initiatives of industry, building up local training and consultancy capacities and providing back-up services for businesses introducing environmental and social management systems.

Foreign Trade and International Relations

Successful, sustainable foreign economic affairs presuppose a dialogue at political and civil society levels.

InWEnt has the appropriate programs, which allow participants to become familiar with international regulations, and the political and social structure in the partner country, as well as acquiring international hands-on and language skills.

Environment and Natural Ressources

Within the framework of human resources and organisational development, InWEnt is making its contribution, by tapping knowledge capital for individual further training and by optimising the performance capacity of organisations and institutions that have the mandate to act in this area. The focus of its work is on environmental policy, energy and climate protection, water use, the management of natural resources, agro-biodiversity and green biotechnology, food security and consumer protection.

Peace and Security

InWEnt tackles this topic on an inter-departmental basis, concentrating on crisis prevention, peace education, conflict management and peace-building, disaster prevention and disaster management, security policy and conflicts over resources.

Social Development

InWEnt supports reform projects in the fields of health, education and basic social services, so as to enhance the quality and sustainability of the systems, and to ensure access for the poor. Our HIV/AIDS programmes aim to achieve improvements not only in the health sector, but also in terms of jobs and social security.

Regional Development and Urbanisation

InWEnt’s work strengthens key competencies, such as the ability to conduct a dialogue and the ability to facilitate complex development processes, so as to encourage cooperation between the public and the private sector, and to involve civil society in the planning and decision-making processes.

Good Governance and Reform Processes

InWEnt supports reform processes in partner countries, which aim to ensure responsible and efficient government action. It promote effective government, which gears its actions to universal standards of participation, transparency and accountability, and which guarantees citizens a minimum of security and prosperity.

International Leadership Training

InWEnt’s International Leadership Training addresses itself to skilled employees and managers from developing and transforming countries who are working in government departments, organisations or enterprises. After a six month preparation phase participants spend an entire year in Germany. During their stay they deepen their professional know-how and broaden their skills in the field of initiation and management of development processes. A four month internship phase at a German company helps participants to reinforce newly acquired knowledge and to tie professional contacts.

International Climate Protection Fellowship

The International Climate Protection Fellowship awarded by the Alexander von Humboldt-Foundation adresses itself to prospective leaders from a non-European threshold or developing country working in the field of climate protection and resource conservation in academia, business or administration in her/his home country. The fellowship will enable the recipients to conduct a research-related project of their own choice with hosts in Germany whom they are free to choose themselves. They must have completed their first university degree (Bachelor’s or comparable academic degree) and hold a further academic or professional qualification.

In addition to applicants who have been trained in the natural and engineering sciences, candidates who have been engaged in legal, economic and societal issues relating to climate change are encouraged to apply for this programme.

The Robert Bosch Foundation Fellowship Programme

It is the aim of the fellowship programme to educate young Americans who know Europe and especially Germany from their own practical experience and who are ready to advocate the German-Amercian relations.

Together with the Center for Transatlantic Relations at the Johns Hopkins University in Washington, D.C., the Robert Bosch Foundation organizes the Journalism Program for German and American Journalists. During information tours the German and American journalists are rndered the possibility to get to know each other. Editors of quality regional newspapers receive opportunity to meet colleagues and experts from the political, economic, and administrative sectors in the host country and gain an inside view of current issues in the news.

Specialists and managers from the Near East

Iraq Horizons 2015

Iraq Horizons 2015 is a further training programme that addresses itself to young Iraqi leaders working in the field of civil engineering, information and communication technology, energy supply, medical engineering as well as in the financing and banking industry. The programme comprises a two-phase German language course held at Goethe-Institutes in Iraq and Germany that serves as a preparatory stage for a several week long practical training in a German enterprise. Applicants should not be older than 35 years and are expected to bring with them one to five years of practical vocational experience and to speak English fluently. The programme's aim is the support of rebuilding activities in Iraq and the tightening of economic relations between Germany and Iraq.

Advanced Eduaction Programmes for Cultural Journalists und Cultural Managers from the Arab World

Goethe-Institut offers advanced education programmes in Germany for cultural journalists and cultural managers from the Arab world.

 

IPS programme for the Arab countries

The programme is intended for talented people from Arab countries who are keen to play an active role in promoting core democratic values in their home countries. The German Bundestag is offering them the opportunity to gain first-hand experience of the German parliamentary system and political decision-making processes.

Specialists and Managers from Japan

Japanese-German Centre Berlin

The exchange programmes of the Japanese-German Centre Berlin focus on young potential leaders for German-Japanese relations. The JDZB’s programmes are particularly addressed to target groups that include young employees, future senior managers or young academics.

 

The German-Japanese Exchange Programme for Young Employees seeks to give young employees and trainees aged between 18 and 30 years the opportunity to visit the other country.

 

The German-Japanese Study Programme for Youth Work Specialists is aimed at specialists that are employed in the field of youth work. Every year two delegations of experts in various youth work fields are invited to visit Japan or Germany. These multipliers are then introduced to the frameworks of youth work in the other country. Participants visit youth work institutions and centres; they meet the youth of the other country and learn more about their problems, and thus have an opportunity to acquire knowledge for their own work and to develop further their own country’s national youth work agenda.

 

The Exchange Program for Young Experts targets young potential managers from public research institutions or – future executives from private companies in Germany and Japan. Through visits to the other country the program seeks to promote mutual understanding as well as foster lively academic exchange and discussions.

 

The Japanese-German Centre Berlin together with the Robert Bosch Foundation are organising a Young Leaders Forum with a Summer School for young high potentials from Germany and Japan. The 10 days summer school programme includes a workshop on a socio-political topic relevant to both countries and a round trip to institutions and companies. The programme takes place annually alternating between Germany and Japan. English will be the spoken language during the summer school. Participants are recruited by recommendations of key persons from private companies or institutions in the fields of politics, business, research, media or administration. They should be aged between 25 and 35 years and speak English fluently.

Further Training for Journalists

In order to promote a more complete and balanced coverage of Germany and Europe in the Japanese media, the Robert Bosch Foundation set up a Visiting Program for Japanese journalists to Germany and the European Union in 2008.
The program is aimed at journalists in all Japanese media outlets. Up to 12 participants are invited to Germany and to other EU countries to spend six days discussing a current issue. As is the case in its other programs, the foundation also wants to support junior journalists. For that reason, a few of the vacancies are given to journalism students from the Okuma School of Public Management, a graduate school of Waseda University, Tokyo. Cooperation partners of the programme are the Japanese-German Center Berlin and Waseda University, Tokyo.

Cultural Managers from China

Culture Management in China launched by the Goethe-Institute is a scholarship programme for further qualification of young prospective leaders in the field of Culture Management. Eligible for funding are cultural managers below the age of 40 years holding at least two years of practical working experience in the management of cultural centres (“multiplex”), performing arts institutions, festivals, music and cultural agencies, and museums in China. Annually the 15 to 20 participants are nominated by a nationwide advertised bidding in China. In seminars and practical training they acquire specialised knowledge on subject matters and structures of the German and European Culture Management.

Media Ambassadors China-Germany

In line with its fellowship-programme for journalists Media Ambassadors China-Germany the Robert-Bosch Foundation in cooperation with the Hamburg Media School every year awards fifteen fellowships to young Chinese and German journalists. Journalists from China are invited on a three-month fellowship to Germany, while German fellows spend three months in China. The fellows receive a stipend of € 1,000 per month.

Managing Global Governance Programme

The Managing Global Governance Programme launched by InWEnt Capacity Building International addresses itself to well-qualified young professionals possessing at least two years of vocational experience in government ministries, independent think tanks or research institutions from Brazil, China, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Mexico, Pakistan and South Africa. The Programme’s objective is the qualification of prospective young leaders for the complex task of creating global governance structures to meet future problems and risks emerging from processes of globalisation on a regional and global level.

Candidates will be nominated for application by their employers.

The programme's object is to promote a balanced media coverage on Germany and other European countries in the Indian national media.
