For teachers of German as a foreign language (DaF) there are numerous possibilities of advanced training. Besides language practice and German cultural studies these courses focus on the methods and didactics of teaching German as a foreign language.

The Goethe-Institute provides further education courses for German teachers at different places in Germany (website in German).

Die special mission of interDaf e.V. at Herder-Institute of Leipzig university is the language and further education training on the subject German as a foreign language (DaF).

The Pedagogic Exchange Service (PAD) applies with its programmes to German teachers abroad as well as foreign teachers in Germany (all websites in German).

The Goethe-Institutes abroad foster instruction in German as a foreign language (DaF) at primary- and secondary schools, colleges and adult education in the foreign countries. They organise advanced training courses of methods, didactics and cultural studies, inform about new teaching methods, examinations and all facing of German life.

The Goethe-Institut and the University Kassel offer distance learning courses of teaching German focusing on the theory and practice with a variety of subjects for students and teachers of German language and literature studies and German as a foreign language (DaF). 

In the framework of the Immigration Law the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) coordinates the transmission of language ability und knowledge of orientation for immigrants. The Goethe-Institute offers for the required teachers as a base qualification in German as a second language (DaZ) special pilot seminars (website in German).

The Goethe-Institute offers advanced courses (website in German) for German teachers who would like to enhance their German knowledge. Participants could apply under certain conditions for a scholarship.
