ERASMUS offers university-level students the chance to go to another European country to study and do work placements (traineeships). Periods abroad should contribute to qualifications at home and help students get to know different cultures and languages as well as gain vital experience.
The programme Student Mobility for Studies enables students at higher education institutions to spend an integrated period of study of between three months and twelve months in another participating country.
The Intensive programmes are programmes of study which brings together students and teaching staff from higher education institutions of at least three participating countries. It can last from ten continuous full days to six weeks of subject related work.

The Programme Erasmus Mundus aims to enhance quality in higher education through scholarships and academic cooperation between Europe and the rest of the world. It offers financial support for institutions and scholarships for individuals. Funding is available for

With the programme Travel to Europe the Robert Bosch Foundation enables in collaboration with the Federal Foreign Office students from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, and Serbia a four-week trip through the countries of the European Union. The students receive, beside a free Schengen Visa, health insurance, interrail train tickets, and a daily cash allowance.
The German Academic Refugee Initiative (DAFI) awards scholarships to recognised refugees in its country of asylum. The German Federal Government provides the appropriations to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
