The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) has online a Search Engine for Study Abroad, with information on possible courses abroad, entrance requirements, degrees and possible sources of financial support as well as practical advice on studying abroad. Furthermore it informs about language courses in other European countries.
Applicants in all subject areas are eligible for scholarships for either a semester or a year. All applicants must be in at least their third semester of study when they apply.
Alongside German students can apply BAföG for a stay abroad.
Besides the DAAD offers special support programmes.
The programme Go East aims to interest German students in a study stay in Central, Southeast and East Europe as well as the countries of Commonwealth of Independent States.
In line with A New Passage to India study and research stays of German students, graduates and postdoctoral scientists in India are encouraged.
The PROMOS Programme awards scholarships for short stays abroad to German students.
ERASMUS as a sectoral programme within the framework of the EU-education programme on lifelong learning concerns itself with higher education. It supports:
study terms at European universities outside Germany
students' placements at related institutions of higher education, centres of scientific research or enterprises in Europe.
Students interested in taking a study term at a European university outside Germany should apply directly at the European university, they wish to study at. For further information on application modalities please consult one of the International Offices of your German university.
The FREE-MOVER-Programme provides students the opportunity to take a study term at a European host university not taking part in the ERASMUS-Programme.
