Schools Abroad

The network of German schools abroad extends over the whole world. Originally they were to provide schooling for German children who were living abroad temporarily. In recent years the bridging function of these schools has been strengthened by the admission of pupils with native languages other than German.

The "Schools: Partners for the Future" Initiative aims to build up a worldwide network of at least 1000 partner schools through which to awaken young people's interest in and enthusiasm for modern-day Germany and German society.

Former students of German schools abroad who have passed their final examination have founded the so called "TU9-wide network". TU9 is a joint activity of nine German Technical Universities (TU's) addressed to graduates of German Schools abroad now studying in Germany. The network intends to connect students having passed similar learning and educational experiences on German schools abroad while their studies in Germany.
