Die Botschafterkonferenz hat das Schwerpunktthema "Lateinamerika und Karibik: Vertraute Partner – neue Bedingungen". Eröffnet wird die Konferenz mit einer Rede von Guido Westerwelle und seiner mexikanischen Amtskollegin Patricia Espinosa Cantellano.
Die Botschafter werden zusammen mit Fachleuten aus dem In- und Ausland in 70 Foren und Workshops Fragen zur Sicherheitspolitik, zu Europa und zu globalen Themen diskutieren. Einen Schwerpunkt bildet der Wirtschafttag am 7. September 2010, an dem Westerwelle und verschiedene Vertreter aus der Wirtschaft sprechen.
Rund 300 in Nordamerika tätige deutsche Wissenschaftlerinnen und Wissenschaftler treffen sich mit Vertretern von vier großen Wissenschaftsorganisationen, dem parlamentarischen Staatssekretär des BMBF, Thomas Rachel, sowie einigen Bundestagsabgeordneten, um über Karrierewege und Zukunftsperspektiven zu diskutieren. Das internationale Symposium zur Kulturellen Bildung in Europa thematisiert die politische und gesellschaftliche Verantwortung für kulturelle Bildung in Europa und die verschiedenen Formen ihrer Vermittlung. Arts for Education! sucht nach Antworten auf viele noch offene Fragen zum Werden und zur Wirkung kultureller Bildung: Wer übt Verantwortung für kulturelle Bildung aus? Wo liegt politischer Handlungsbedarf? Welche Rolle spielen Künste in der Schule? Welches sind Wünsche und Vorstellungen der Zielgruppe?
Zeitgleich findet vom 11. bis zum 15. September 2010 das Jugendsymposium Arts for Education! statt, bei dem sich 100 Jugendliche zwischen 16 und 20 Jahren aus 35 europäischen Ländern treffen, um ihre Erwartungen und Wünsche kultureller Bildung zu diskutieren und dann im Rahmen von Arts for Education! einzubringen.
Auf der Fachtagung des Netzwerks der deutschen UNESCO-Projektschulen setzen sich Lehrpersonen, Schülerinnen und Schüler der 194 deutschen UNESCO-Projektschulen, Vertreter der Kultusministerien und UNESCO-Projektschulkoordinatorinnen und –koordinatoren aus anderen Ländern mit dem Thema "Kultur und Identität" aus schulischer Perspektive auseinander.
Die Tagung wird u. a. vom Auswärtigen Amt der Bundesrepublik Deutschland und dem Freistaat Thüringen unterstützt.
Die Anna-Lindh-Stiftung, die sich seit 2005 der Förderung des Dialogs im euro-mediterranen Raum widmet, hat für den Report on EuroMed Intercultural Trends zum ersten Mal Umfragen zu Einstellungen gegenüber anderen Kulturen in 13 Ländern durchgeführt. Wie gehen die Europäer und die Mittelmeeranrainer mit kultureller und religiöser Vielfalt um? Beeinflussen Medien die individuelle und kollektive Wahrnehmung dieser Vielfalt und wenn ja, wie? Welche Perspektiven hat ein konstruktiver Dialog im euro-mediterranen Raum und was kann jeder von uns zu einem solchen Dialog beitragen? Diese Fragen stehen im Mittelpunkt der Podiumsdiskussion zu dem erstmalig der deutschen Öffentlichkeit vorgestellten Report und werden durch Beiträge von Experten der Anna-Lindh-Stiftung, der Integrationspolitik und der Wissenschaft bereichert.

Das 10. Forum ist Auftakt für den nationalen Dialog zur Umsetzung der EU-Jugendstrategie in Deutschland für die Jahre 2010 - 2018. Younger researchers who are exploring aspects of Cultural Policy at a European level can too easily be or feel isolated, especially when the outcomes of their work are expected or predicted to have a real impact on future developments. The ‘younger’ researchers (young in years or young in this field) have the chance to discuss common themes, to share and develop ideas, to learn from each other, to consider different approaches to methodology, and often to find partners in cross-border affiliations.

"A Soul for Europe" - Istanbul Forum aims at reaching a common vision among all actors in society. The business sector, the non-governmental organization as well as the individual citizens have to take active responsibility, together with the political decision makers, in the process of the European development facing global challenges such as the economical and financial crisis, socio-cultural tensions and climate change. Forum Istanbul – “A Soul for Europe” will initiate a laboratory to define and implement new forms of collaboration between political decision makers and civil society - including the business sector and the individual citizen - to develop Europe as a cultural project. Forum Istanbul will be a step forward to constitute a common working platform of Culture and Economy, in line with the European Commission’s Agenda for Culture in a globalizing world.

Weitere Themen werden Migration und Islam in Europa, Kultur der Erinnerung, Transferierbarkeit von Erfahrungen der Versöhnungsarbeit, gelebte Nachbarschaft in Grenzregionen und Europas Nachbarn an den EU-Außengrenzen sein.Ziel ist ein umfassender Dialog über den Geist und die Geister der Nachbarschaft – gestern, heute und morgen. „Der Nachbar in uns. Dimensionen europäischer Nachbarschaft heute“ ist Teil eines zweijährigen Themenschwerpunktes zu „Nachbarschaft“ des Goethe-Instituts.
This major international and multidisciplinary conference seeks to engage with questions regarding the role of arts and cultural activity in civil society.
The TAKING PART conference will share research findings; it will hear about the wide range of national and international arts practice engaging directly with the community, creating new contexts for debate and animating the dialogue in challenging and exciting ways.
It will provide a unique opportunity to strengthen links and develop a shared understanding between third sector organisations and those working in arts and participation.
The two days will offer opportunities to share effective practice, listen to keynote speakers and contribute to the thinking; but shared through the creative methods of World Cafe, Open Space Technology and pecha-cucha.

Towards a Citizens’ Europe The Berlin Conference 2010 starts from the premise that there is no struggle between cultures in Europe, but rather a struggle for Europe and its culture. Giving Europe a Soul implies that culture contains a fundamental potential for activating the European citizen. With a participation of cultural and renowned political figures from the five continents, the conference approaches two key considerations for the cultural and political future of Europe and will formulate specific proposals.
The Campus is aimed at creating a space for exchange and discussion for cultural agents and cultural networks interested in international cooperation. The general theme of the Campus in Gran Canaria is “Culture and local development”, and for the first time it will involve participants from diverse African countries.Iin collaboration with the Organization of Iberoamerican States for Education, Science and Culture (OEI) and other bodies.
